Setup fees for classified ads, press releases, and public service announcements
Text-only: No setup charge for electronic text submitted via email, online form, or floppy disk; $0.10/word transcription or scanning fee for hardcopy text. Allow three business days.

Description of Services
Online Server Charge
This is what we charge to serve your Web pages to the Internet. The basic rate includes up to 5 MB of disk storage (based on the monthly maximum utilization) and up to 2,000 hits/month. Additional disk space is $1/MB/month. Bulk pricing is available for quantities in excess of 25 MB. Additional hits are charged at $0.01/hit.

Basic Web Page
Includes title, text, and up to two images in digital or hardcopy form. We will register your Web page with major Internet search services such as AltaVista, Lycos, and Yahoo, place appropriate links in our Site Map and Business Directory pages, and feature it in our What's New section for 30 days. Additional basic pages are $50 each. More complex pages (additional images, backgrounds, custom artwork, forms, audio, CGI/Java/JavaScript, etc.) are available at extra cost. Do-It-Yourself Account
If you prefer to produce and maintain your own Web pages, but need a server to put them on, we can provide a Unix shell account and FTP access to the TideNet Web server. This fee is in addition to the online server charges for the Web pages themselves.

Email Accounts
To allow your target audience to correspond with you, it is often very useful to integrate email addresses into web pages, especially since most web browsers have email capabilities built-in. If you don't already have an email account elsewhere, we can provide one for you.

Domain Names
Many organizations prefer to have their own domain names, rather than using Internet addresses which reference the domain of their service provider. We will register your domain with the network authorities and administer it for you on our server. Our price includes the InterNIC domain name registration fee and annual renewal charge.

Advertising Banners
An effective way to draw attention to your web site is to place links to it in high-traffic areas of the Web. We offer advertising slots on our Network Central and Business Directory web pages. Your banner will appear in rotation with those of our other advertising customers. For increased visibility, you may purchase multiple slots in one or more locations. The setup fee is waived for digital artwork prepared according to our specifications; custom artwork is available at extra cost.

Classified Ads and Press Releases
We provide special areas devoted to classified advertising and press releases, with pointers to them on our Network Central and Business Directory pages.

Public Service Announcements
We will waive the online server fees for announcements of general interest from non-profit, community, or governmental organizations. Setup fees may still apply to cover our costs of developing material for you; if you supply your own HTML or electronic text, these charges will be waived, too. We will also waive the online charges for advertising banners which are linked to Public Service Announcements.

We offer a variety of additional services for both internal and external information networks. If you don't see it listed here, please contact us. If we can't help you, we will direct you to someone who can. Let us show you how to put Internet technology to work for your business or organization.

Terms of Service
  1. Ownership of content. Material developed on behalf of a client becomes the property of the client once the initial setup and production fees are paid in full. Web pages will display a notice designating the client as copyright holder, unless the client requests otherwise.

  2. Restrictions on content. Our goal is to provide a community-oriented service. We therefore reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service for material which (1) we deem to be rude, offensive, vulgar, indecent, or sexually explicit, or (2) is otherwise prohibited under local, state, or federal law.

  3. Pricing. Pricing and fee structures are subject to change. Existing accounts will be given 30 days notice prior to any rate increase.

  4. Overdue accounts. Online materials will be removed from service for accounts which are more than 30 days overdue.

  5. Service outages. Our goal is to provide online services for our clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, occasional interruptions can be expected due to hardware and software failures, system maintenance, network outages, power failures, and similar circumstances. In the event of cumulative outages in excess of 120 hours in any given month, pro-rated refunds of online service fees can be obtained upon written request. This applies only to failures directly affecting Tidewater Network Service's servers or their immediate connections to the Internet. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, outages which occur elsewhere in the network.

  6. Limitations of liability. We strive to provide a high-quality service which reflects our clients' intentions as closely as possible. However, clients are ultimately responsible for verifying the accuracy and completeness of material which we develop on their behalf. In the event of errors or lapses in service, Tidewater Network Services' liability shall be limited to actual fees paid. We assume no responsibility for material which clients develop for themselves or install on our servers without our assistance.
